Wellbeing in the Workplace

a 12-part video series with Michelle Kinder, M.Ed., LPC, ACC

Effective leaders understand the significance of prioritizing their team's mental health, yet it remains an underutilized approach. When team members feel supported and seen as full human beings, organizations see the payoff in better outcomes, retention, recruitment, and innovation.

In this engaging 12-video series, Michelle has transformed her highly sought-after keynotes into a comprehensive resource that can be effortlessly shared across an entire organization. By strategically spacing out these videos over a period of time, she ensures the concepts and ideas deeply resonate with employees and become ingrained in the fabric of the company culture.

The 12-video series is thoughtfully bundled with 3 complimentary implementation consultations. For an enhanced experience, there is also an option to upgrade to include a valuable 6-month personalized leadership coaching package.

Below are 1 minute clips from each of the videos, along with a brief description, to give you a feel for the content and delivery system:

PART 1: Stress (12 min)

Most employees are experiencing greater and more complex stress. Understanding stress and having concrete strategies to better manage it brings people out of survival mode so they can do their best work.

PART 2: Understanding the Nervous System (13 min)

Understanding the nervous system from a polyvagal-informed lens allows employees to see their reactions and behaviors as adaptive survival strategies. This neurobiological framework removes the shame and supports people in being more accountable to themselves and others.

PART 3: Signs of Safety & Signals of Danger (17 min)

Our nervous systems are constantly scanning the environment for signs of safety and signals of danger. The ratio dictates if we are available for safety and connection or in a survival state. Having this lens helps employees pay more attention to amplifying the signs of safety in their workplace and mitigating the signs of danger.

PART 4: Notice What You Notice (20 min)

What we pay attention to expands. This video explores our capacity to shape our experience by paying attention to where our focus goes and whether or not it is serving us.

PART 5: Co-Regulation - Cup and Saucer (19 min)

Co-regulation is a lifelong biological imperative. Our nervous systems need each other to make sense of our experiences and metabolize stressors. This video explores how we impact each other and what a difference it can make in the workplace to prioritize connection and relationships.

PART 6: Self-Compassion (20 min)

When we start becoming active managers of our own nervous systems, the inner critic can show up loud and proud. A healthy alternative is to develop a practice of self-compassion, the capacity to extend the same warmth and care to yourself as you would to a friend.

PART 7: Make Room for Joy and Play (27. min)

Mark Nepo says, “Joy is a sign of deep health, not an added feature.” This is true in organizations. Joy and play send the message to our nervous systems that we are safe, and it’s from that position of safety that we are able to innovate and contribute.

PART 8: Attention Management for Mental Health (23 min)

There is plenty of material about attention management for productivity. This video explores concrete strategies that support attention management for mental health, recognizing that when people are in positive mental states their natural brilliance and productivity can flow from there.

PART 9: David Emerald’s 3 Vital Questions, #1 - Where are you putting your focus? (11 min)

As a certified trainer and long-time student of David Emerald’s 3 Vital Questions: Transforming Workplace Drama, I can attest that this material has supported the unlocking from some of the stickiest professional and personal dilemmas employees face. This first question, “Where are you putting your focus?”, looks at moving from problem-focused to outcome-focused.

PART 10: David Emerald’s Vital Questions, #2 - How are you relating? (18 min)

The second question in the 3 Vital Questions, “How are you relating?”, explores the roles of Karpman’s drama triangle: victim, persecutor, and rescuer, and offers Emerald’s alternate roles of creator, challenger, and coach.

PART 11: David Emerald’s Vital Questions, #3 - What actions are you taking? (17 min)

“What actions are you taking?” is the third of the vital questions and explores a five-step action planning process that culminates in clarity about what steps to take next toward your desired outcome.

PART 12: Community Care and Contextual Factors (23 min)

This final video explores the ways that self-care can be weaponized if not balanced out by a commitment to community care. It also explores the need to actively attend to the systemic issues that are impacting individual and community well-being.
